To position an area rug in a bedroom, place it under the bottom two-thirds of the bed. This way, the rug extends out from the sides and foot of the bed, giving your feet something soft to land on when getting out.
If the bed is centered in the room, make sure the rug aligns evenly with it — avoid placing it too far toward the headboard. The rug should also be straight and symmetrical to create balance.
The best place for a rug in the bedroom is under the bed or slightly in front of it. You can also place small rugs on either side of the bed or at the foot of the bed if the room is tight.
In larger bedrooms, you might position a larger rug to cover most of the floor, leaving a border of exposed flooring around the edges.
Rug size depends on bed and room layout. Use 9x12 for king, 8x10 for queen, 6x9 for full. Ensure it's visible on both sides and reaches the foot.
